So just over a year ago, i posted a dialogue capture from SWTOR of a bit of ambient dialogue on Corellia where, in the middle of a war zone, a father complains to a soldier that the animals have escaped from the zoo. This man’s neighbors are apparently dying all around him, and all he can complain about is his own inconvenience. Unexpectedly, it became my most popular post ever based on Tumblr’s “Notes”. I’ve done a hundred ambient dialogue captures since then, and i still haven’t quite replicated it. I’ve re-posted the screen-caps here, along with the actual video & audio.
I saw this again the other day, and I couldn’t help but think of Covid. There are people in the real world who are just like this father. Covid is actually contagious. Comparing it to things like heart disease - or getting hit by a car walking across the street - is a ridiculous comparison. When i first saw this over a year ago, i thought it was chiefly a reference to parents complaining about violence in video games, because it gave them something to complain about. Now i think it was trying to warn us. People are crazy.
Tony stark is going to BUILD HIS WAY out of the hopeless situation he’s in with nebula, he’s going to THROW HIMSELF into the quantum realm in order to save everyone, he’s going to WIELD THE GUANTLET and SHOVE IT STRAIGHT UP THANOS’ ASS and yeah tl;Dr I’m essentially going into this movie purely to watch him fuck shit up and save everyone AGAIN

Klaus fell in love with man names David Katz and he was Jewish. Jewish enough for it to matter enough to him to go on his dog tags so that anyone who found him would give him Jewish death rituals instead of Christian ones. For a character that’s dead most of the time? That’s quite something.

we’re all ok w scottish english being a recognized dialect (sse or scottish standard english), and australian english being a recognized dialect, but the second people bring up aave (african american vernacular english) yall are like “thats just internet speak” or “thats not real its just people talking dumb”,, like no aave is a recognized dialect yall are just racist...
also id like to point out that i myself am not quite sure how the scottish/australian dialects are thought of in their own country, im basing this off of how everyone seems to treat aave versus how they treat “scottish people of twitter” or australian slang, but it does seem far more normalized/accepted than aave. we appropriate aave and get mad at people for calling it out.
(btw have yall ever actually heard someone who knows how to speak in aave?? have yall ever heard someone who doesn’t know how to and is just using it in the way they speak in ‘internet slang’? its like hearing a scot speak sse versus someone who just knows a few words speak sse. which i mean, is exactly what happens with aave, but i hope u know what i mean)
(also whenever i see people complain about aave, i feel like they’ve never really listened closely to someone speaking it)
anyways correct me for anything im wrong abt here bc im justa dumb white kid trying to figure out this stuff and this is a thing ive noticed a Lot,, im 13 n tryin to figure this stuff out while my brain is still malleable ✌️

hey gaud, i hope this isnt an insensitive question, but what exactly is a sensory issue? i think it has to do with things like being unable to hear chewing/swallowing (aka hell) but im not actually sure
not insensitive at all, and thanks for asking <3
in the original post i was referencing sensory processing disorder, which is very common among autistic folk. i’ve only done limited research, but it’s my impression that sensory processing issues can be comorbid with/a subcomponent of a number of other mental health issues. basically, it’s a good conversation for the neurodivergent community to have!
different sensory stuff can cause trouble for different people. E.g. your example of the sound of chewing/swallowing. some common sensory issues I’ve seen people talk about:
sound of styrofoam
sound of utensils/ceramics/plateware/etc
chalkboard & nails (very common one!)
fingernails scratching on certain surfaces
the compulsion to ‘balance’ out footsteps, physical actions (such as blinking, hand gestures, etc). for instance stepping ‘too hard/not hard enough’ on one side and needing to ‘make up for it’.
the feeling or sound of rough surfaces
feeling of old/dirty/wrong fabrics
those are some of the more common ones, but there are plenty of others. often there’s no predicting it–it’s a nuisance, but there aren’t always rules!
