My favorite flavor of character is the hardheaded booksmart female sidekick character but not in a "I'm not like other girls way" but in a "I understand their sensitivity and their feminity and the way they channel their trauma and the way they cope in a way no one else does and their just babies really and shouldn't be responsible for these stupid boys." And this makes me want to gatekeep them because so often in fandom spaces male characters are over glorified, over analyzed, and the female characters are there to either fight them, fuck them, or make them feel better but no one's doing that for the girls.
Examples of such characters include:
Annabeth Chase
Hermione Granger
Leia Organa
Katara
CJ Cregg
And to be clear I HAVE seen fandom spaces where these girls are given the love they deserve and some of it is definitely to the fault of their writers. ALL THAT BEING SAID, I'm really tired of seeing so many potential ways to dive into characters and watching it be ignored by the fandoms.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk
leo mcgarry character building and writikg legitimately makes me want to crawl the walls I am so insane about it actually. old man of all time
(made this for @hamletthedane)
like we all love the “I lied about being your spouse to visit you in the hospital” thing but consider:
sally jackson lying about being annabeth’s mom to see her in the emergency room
having feelings about Josh and CJ both having tunnel vision during the transition stage between administrations, and both Danny and Donna use the same talking points on them.
joshdonna and sydcarmy are incredibly similar and parallel and I would like to talk more about it but idk if anyone cares
this show is the bane of my existence but idk. Fivey
oh my fucking god she's my girlfriend don't touch him
An essential part of Percy and Annabeth's dynamic for me is that they need to be in cahoots
I need them to be scheming, plotting, bitching etc.
happy may the 4th :)
