I think I just found the only reasonable exchange involving two people with opposing views on porn to ever exist on this website
were so fucking modern and so advanced dude. which is why tribal people work less hours per week and have time for community and family and culture and today u and ur partner can work 70 hours a week and still not have enough for food and a home lol
This and also, if I may add, beware of learning divination from TikTok as well, especially tarot and psychic senses like clairvoyance, because it’s 9/10 times a way to sell or promote something to you.
The way tarot readings are presented on TikTok is near always shallow, without context, and ignoring the fundamentals of tarot simply to sell readings to you. The creator will show you a random card, say the meaning is something basic (and sometimes not true!), then go on to promote their own reading services. Or those “no hashtags so it’s meant for you” videos where the Tower turns up and they’re like “omg your life is about to become so much better”. Let’s be real for a second here… 😭😭😭
As for psychic senses as a means for divination, nobody ever seems to promote grounding work, meditation, protection work, or even tell you HOW to do things. It’s always “here are five signs you have these abilities”, and the signs are the equivalent of “the sky is blue” (something basic), and the reason for that is because it feels somewhat relatable and good to hear, which makes you watch more nonsense content while still learning nothing.
TikTok is the most popular social media platform right now, so everyone can just hop on and say whatever they want while labeling it as true, and we all know how some people are greedy for money and fame, so, just like OP said… think for yourself and find more resources for magic! Your practice IS your own, but, let’s be real, TikTok is NOT a good place to learn magic on.
I say this with the utmost love:
I think witchtok is bullshit. I don't think much stuff on there is worth your time. There is much more Magick and learning to be done right in front of you that you will ever find within a screen.
There's a plethora of content out there, but it's all a tool. It's all other people's experiences. You need to find what speaks to YOU and center in on that.
There's nothing wrong with platforms that share genuine information (Tumblr, Reddit, on occasion Instagram, just from my own experience), but holy fuck do some of y'all need to learn to weed out bad info.
I'm so sick of seeing Witches influenced by, well, influencers. People just making little videos with the most basic information to get the most likes. People listing out these rules that they don't even know about or follow because they think it's some Cool Cult Info.
Stop listening to these people! Think for yourself! Fuck, don't even listen to me if you disagree! Your practice is YOURS.
Take your pick
Abolish Tesla.
fr, i feel like us balkans will do the craziest shit casually just cause everybody else does it and accepts it, but god forbid you become vegan or smth
you wanna curse your piece of shit, cheating boyfriend, his entire family, and all of their bloodlines? yeah, sure, someone’s grandma/aunt is the village witch, go and call her… average day. but god forbid you drop out of college, that’s the most shameful and disrespectful thing you could do
someone said its not that anxiety doesnt exist in the balkans its that anxiety = what will the village/people say and FUCK true
I think something people tend to forget about folk magic is prior to the internet, for many people, it wasn't about learning how to do everything. Like, some people specialized in divination and omens. Some people specialized in laying and breaking hexes. Some people specialized in healing. You'd pick who you went to based on your current situation.
I think practitioners should embrace that more: not expecting ourselves to learn how to do everything. Today's magic and witchy communities put so much pressure on learning how to do everything for yourself, but personally I think that kills the beauty of community. It's perfectly fine to narrow your interests and go to those you trust for something you aren't sure how to do yourself.

In 1944 a kitten named George (short for General Electric) was saved from drowning by a U.S. Navy crew member. George was then photographed and given a liberty card and detailed health record. Source.
