Boo! Happy Halloween!
Finland is the kind of person who starts getting into Christmas mood as early as November. From late November, however, itβs the period where the Krampus wander around and punish naughty kids, until Saint Nicholas comes to tame them on December 6th. Because of this, December 5th is symbolically the day of the Krampus, right before Saint Nicholas puts them into chains. β¦ Austria kind of feels their influence and canβt stand Christmas-related things before December 6th. On December 5th, his unsufferableness peaks. Not the best day for these two to meet, I bet lol.
Based on this meme, but I got the idea after drawing Austria as a Krampus for Himaβs Aprilβs Fool thing β¦ So, thanks Hima for accidentally inspiring me for something Iβve been planning to draw since April lmao
fic premise meme time! alfred, shortly after the revolution, visiting francis at versailles as a means to thank his monarchs (marie antoinette and louis xvi π), but alfred is *incredibly* thrown off by the lavish lifestyle of versailles and francis doesnβt exactly seem like himself (perhaps he feels ashamed of the sheer amount of over-indulgence around him? hmmmm) (anyway, this is just an excuse for someone to write versailles!francis hehe)
oooh Versailles francis would be super interesting to write! he would definitely be put off by it. I also headcanon that nations have a sixth-sense kind of gut feeling and he just knows that this is his ticket to disaster. he doesnβt know why but he just knows. also if you donβt mind me adding - I like to think that despite his discomfort he enjoys it to an extent because, well, it feels like heβs caught up to someone. He remembers the lavish palaces of the Roman empire whose boot he lived under and seeing himself reach this level of opulence feels like heβs finally proved himself as, if not superior, then at least equal to old man Romulus
(btw poor Al, his puritan heart wonβt be able to take that trip)
I also canβt help but mention what an amazing job @rebelsandtherest did with a similar premise of America visiting France after the revolution in her fic Amity which I highly recommend
fraternal.
also some quotes that plagued my mind while i was making this:
βNight, in which everything was lost, went reaching out, beyond stars and sun. Stars and sun, a few bright grains, went spiraling round for terror, and holding each other in embrace, there in a darkness that outpassed them all, and left them tiny and daunted. So much, and himself, infinitesimal, at the core of nothingness, and yet not nothing.β
