ONE DIRECTION’s next single is ready to hit the shelves and we can exclusively reveal it will be You & I.
The track, which goes on sale on May 25, is written by the same team that worked with the lads on Story Of My Life.
The cover shows the boys making their way along Clevedon Pier in Somerset.
And fans are in for an extra dollop of 1D because the single download will also feature LIAM PAYNE’s first-ever remix. (x)
You might have heard, One Direction filmed their ‘Drag Me Down’ music video at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, and we know you’re dying to take a tour of everything they saw. So, here we go…
1) Space Exploration Vehicle (SEV)
Even though Louis is roving around Johnson Space Center in our Space Exploration Vehicle, its intended destination is quite different. The SEV will be used for in-space missions and for surface explorations of planetary bodies, including near-Earth asteroids and Mars!
2) Robonaut
Harry and Robonaut bonded during their visit to Johnson Space Center for the filming of their music video. This robot will help humans work and explore in space. Working side by side with humans, or going where the risks are too great for people, robots will make it so we never get ‘dragged down’!
3) Partial Gravity Simulator & Space Station Mockup Bike
You can find Niall floating around in our Partial Gravity Simulator, aka POGO, in the new music video. This tool is used to provide accurate simulations of reduced gravity. Astronauts use this for training and to learn how to perform tasks in space.
While Niall floats with POGO, Liam is training on the International Space Station Mockup Bike, aka CEVIS. This bike provides aerobic exercise and is used to countermeasure the harmful effects of exposure to microgravity while on the space station.
4) Orion Spacecraft
The Orion spacecraft will be the first of its kind that will carry humans to deep space and to Mars! It will be the safest, most advanced spacecraft ever built, and Harry, Niall, Louis and Liam all got to check it out.
5) T-38 Jets
Flying these T-38 jet trainers are an important part of preparing to be an astronaut. Flying and landing them acts as a real-life simulation for practicing spacecraft operations. They can even at fly supersonic up to Mock 1.6, and can put their pilots through more than seven Gs!
HARRY STYLES may have a thing for older women but this is too much even by his standards.
So relax girls, these are exclusive snaps of the video for Midnight Memories, ONE DIRECTION’s new single which premieres on Vevo – the online music channel – on Friday.
It won’t be easy to get decent odds on their website crashing that day. (x)
alulawings:
In the spirit of the Tumblr Language day….I thought I’d like to share trivia about 1D names from the fandom on the Chinese Baidu Tieba platform with those who wouldn’t normally be familiar with it (Though, shoutout to those I see sailing gloriously in both platforms :D)
So there exists boring, clunky phonetic “official” translation of the boys’ names in Chinese (for example used in the Toyota advertisements). However, in many contexts the direct English names are used. But I just adore the simple Chinese nicknames that fans adopted for them too! Each have a single-character moniker (that are sometimes doubled for cuteness, or compounded with adjectives)
Harry is 卷 (juan….(NOT pronounced Spanish Juan lol); means literally, “Curls”). People love calling him 卷 卷 …the more curls the better, eh? haha. Recently I also saw Harry referred to as 卷骚女… “Curly flirty girl/Curly bitch (affectionate)”
Liam is 莉 (li, phonetic. But this is not the usual “li” character for translating male names… the “li” chosen for Liam is a floral one meaning “jasmine”). I’ve seen him called 熊莉,熊 meaning “bear”, and 莉粑粑, 粑粑 meaning a kind of round rice-flour desert treat.
Louis is 丝 (si, pronounced like a hiss, NOT like “see” or “sigh”….“Phonetic” for the “s” in LOUIS, hahaha the irony! - because there’s a tradition of translating the Western name Louis always with the S voiced. However, it has meanings of “silk,” “silky thread,” with connotations of delicateness, so it suits Louis well) He’s often referred to as 丝丝.
Niall is 奶 (nai; phonetic, but it’s got the bonus meaning of “milk” that ties in to Nialler’s innocent image). He’s often called 奶儿 (儿 , “er”, is a common suffix for “-ll” ending English names, but it also fits well with “Nialler”…and it also means “baby”) So he’s the Milk Baby.
Zayn is 渣 (zha; like “juh” sound in “just”; it’s not phonetic, just based on the Z. Has bonus cute meaning of “little crumbs”) Often Zayn’s called 美渣, 美 meaning beautiful. Everybody wants a crumb of that gawjussness.
