It had always been the three of them. Even before the First Order, before the burning of the Jedi Temple, before the disappearance of Luke Skywalker, there was a trio that stood to rival the one that had saved them from the Empire. But like everything good, they fell apart.

The Jedi disappeared into the vastness of space, much like her father, hiding under any name she could, just to escape the clutches of the Knights that had burned her life down with a simple wave of their fingers.

The Apprentice embraced the shadows, unloved and unwanted as he scoured the galaxy for the one person who understood him better than anyone, desperate for the connection he’d lost all those years ago.

The Pilot was left behind to pick up the pieces, thrusting himself into reckless scenarios and the newly formed resistance. But his two friends remained forever ingrained in his head, appearing in dreams he never remembered.

And then, while on a diplomatic mission to Mandalore to try and rally more troops to their cause, Poe Dameron comes across the figure from his dreams. The woman who’d once been his best friend. Jaina Skywalker is as enigmatic as her father, but Poe knows that she could never refuse a good fight.

So he gives her one.
