if sinners (2025) taught me anything, it's that it IS actually always about race.
you can be oppressed, and still promote and maintain the very same systems of oppression onto other marginalized people. being oppressed in one dimension doesn't allow you to be exempt from oppressing in other dimensions. the "villain" of the movie, remmick, being from the time period of the english colonization of ireland, all the while wanting to take a piece of sammie's own culture from him, use him for it. and this plot point coming after remmick witnesses the significance of sammie's playing within his culture, for his ancestors and how it would shape Black culture in the future.
even in today's society, ive noticed that people treat Black people like a commodity. our worth is only as much as other people decide it to be, and that's usually dependent on how much the oppressor can take from us. for example, the controversy of"internet slang" and how it is blatantly just AAVE with a bad disguise on
do you listen to Black musicians? do you watch Black movies? do you engage with Black creators? do you defend the racist tendencies you notice in your friends, in your family, or do you stay silent? do you listen when Black people tell you you've said or done something racist? do you actually care about not being racist, or do you just not want to look like you're racist?
i just think people have a very specific take on what racism is, and that if they're not committing KKK-levels of violence on people, then they're not racist. or if you've experienced oppression in one form, you cannot possibly be engaging with oppression in another form. but the ways in which we interact with other people and the world will always be through the lens of race, because that is simply what it means for oppression to be systemic, especially in the US and our current political climate
anyway 10/10 movie. highly recommend
"A Child’s View from Gaza" was an art exhibition showcasing drawings created by the children of Gaza.
"The captioned illustrations were created by Palestinian children who lived through the Israeli bombardment of Gaza in 2008-09. The pictures were drawn as part of an effort to help children deal with the horrors they had experienced. A Bay Area nonprofit, Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), arranged to display a collection of these pictures at the Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland, California. However, under pressure from the Jewish Federation of the East Bay and other organizations, the museum backed out of the agreement at the last minute."
💔😭 A Cry for Help: A Family on the Brink of Disaster in Gaza! 🚨🆘
My name is Ahmad Muneer Al-Anqer, a 33-year-old man and father of four innocent children: Qusai (12 years old) 👦, Jouri (7 years old) 👧, Mohammed (4 years old) 👶, and Adam (9 months old) 🍼. We are now trapped in a terrifying nightmare after losing everything we owned in a single moment! 💔💔💥
A Night of Destruction…💣🔥
Imagine this: it was a night that seemed like any other, my children’s laughter filled the house, and our hearts beat with love and hope. Suddenly, the ground shook beneath our feet 💥💣, and we heard a sound like thunder… then an eerie silence. Everything was over! 😱💔 Shells exploded everywhere, the walls of our home collapsed over our heads 🏠💣, and the deafening sounds mingled with the screams of my children 😭😢. We crawled out from under the rubble with battered bodies and terrified hearts, running through the smoke and debris, searching for safety 🏃♂️🏃♀️. Our home, once full of life, is now a heap of ashes. 😔💔
Unbearable Suffering…😥😫
Hunger, Thirst, and Slow Death…🍞💧💊
We are now homeless 🏚️, without food 🍽️, and without clean water 💧. My children go to bed hungry and in pain, waking up each morning with only remnants of hope 😞😣. We are caught between life and death ⚠️⚰️. Our strength has collapsed, our health is deteriorating, and we struggle daily to get even the bare necessities 🥖💧. My wife and I are in desperate need of both physical and psychological treatment 💊🩺, but how can we access it? Everything seems distant, everything is far away… even survival itself. 😔
There’s No Time to Hesitate… Our Lives Are in Your Hands! 🙏💖
This plea is not just words; it’s a cry from a desperate heart 🆘💔. Every passing minute brings us closer to an even greater disaster ⏳⚠️. Your donation today will not only rebuild our home 🏠, but it will also rebuild our lives 💞. It will help us feed our starving children 🍞👧👦, provide them with clean water 💧, and perhaps restore the safety they have lost. 🕊️
Your donation today could save us from falling into the abyss 🆘😢. Don’t wait; every second counts in our lives. ⏰💡
Donate now, and don’t let this family continue its fall into despair! 💔⚠️🙏

Redrew their adult versions bc I really need to diversify unique features while also portraying their personalities... Which while I think it's an improvement, I don't think I've quite nailed it yet. May rework some of the minor features, particularly the eyes.
Some notes on the design choice:
Jacques & Kit - they're twins halves of the same whole to me, so they have the same face, just different vibes. Jacques is supposed to give the impression of a cool, strict, if a lil cold older brother, while Kit is the more carefree, also cool, affectionate older sister.
Lemony - I added scars from when Stew beat him up. His eyes are the same as his siblings.
Moxie - Other than polishing up the structure of her face and adding freckles, I think I really got her right from the get-go. 10/10 no further notes.
Cleo - She's supposed to look intimidating and regal, her hair is meant to evoke a "queen". She looks fierce, but she's nicer than she looks.
Jake - when he was younger, his hair is curlier and down, now he has it styled. He's meant to look friendly.
Ellington - doesn't look mysteriously enough ngl, but she does have femme fatale vibes. Kinda.
Lizzie - literally just Hedy Lamarr in terms of face. I really want a look that screams "STARLET", so she's the prettiest/most elegant looking here.
Kellar - my intention for him is that bc of his harried and anxious nature, he gives off the impression of being unapproachable and unpleasant.
Squeak - the youngest of the group, he grew up but still maintaining that core mischievousness. He looks a lot like Pip.
Pip - forgot to draw his glasses, anyways he looks more of a refined gentleman here bc he's now officially a librarian, a prestigious job.
Ornette - meant to look classy, enigmatic, and amiable. Perfect for a hotel proprietor.
Jake and Cleo - work in progress 💕
Very illegal for this couple to get the least fanart inside an underrated fandom, so I'm gonna cook 💪 justice for them!

Iyad @eyadalanqar and his family have been displaced multiple times. Their home was destroyed by bombing, and they tried to take refuge in Al-Shifa Hospital, but it was bombed as well. They are living in fear of missiles going off around them, and they are desperate for help.
He and his family, included several young nieces and nephews, are lacking shelter, food, and water. Iyad has also developed breathing issues from the smoke and phosphorus, and has been unable to get treatment.
Right now, Iyad has only raised €1,898 out of his goal of €40,000. Donations have been small and slow, and he hasn't received any for over a day. Bombs have been falling around him, and he fears for his and his family's lives.
Please give Iyad your support. He and his family have gone through a year of suffering and struggle. Please don't ignore them and let them down. Lend them your help and support. Share and donate, do whatever you can to help.

tutorial for drawing characters with Down syndrome!
DISCLAIMER... please keep in mind that this is an introductory drawing tutorial and has some generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. it's more of an overview of features that are common in people with Down syndrome, not meaning to imply that every person with DS has all of them 👍👍 thanks
if you draw any characters using this feel free to tag me!!
