The way most autism literature describes "literal interpretation" is often not at all similar to how I experience it. Teenage me even thought I couldn't be autistic because I've always been able to learn metaphors easily.
In fact, I love wordplay of all kinds. Teenage me was fascinated to learn all the types of figurative language there are in poetry and literature.
But paperwork and questionnaires are hard, because there's so much they don't state clearly. Or they don't leave room for enough nuance.
"List all the jobs you've had, with start and end dates." What if I don't remember the exact day or month? Is the year enough?
"Have you been suffering from blurred vision?" Well, if I take off my glasses the whole world is blurred, but I'm fairly sure that's not what the intake form at the optometrist is asking.
Or the infamous (and infuriatingly stereotypical) "Would you rather go to a library or a party?" What sort of party? Where? Who's there? I work at a library. Am I currently at the library for work or pleasure? Does it have a good collection?
It's not common figures of speech that confound me. It's ambiguity, in situations that aren't supposed to be ambiguous.
There do in fact need to be colony building insects that can specifically cause severe pain to creatures of any size because that is how the presence of wasps and their baby siblings, bees and ants, shield swathes of plant life from the destructive activity of macrofauna like us and other mammals. There's even trees that domesticate stinging ants. Forests are healthier wherever there are hornet nests. All of these insects are pollinators too as a bonus, yes also the ants, a pollinator doesn't have to fly :)
Yo this goes out to all hollow knight fans who want to play similar games!
I am not far into the game yet, but i recommend the last faith!
Its also a side scroll metroidvania with the kinda cozy/depressed vibe and an infection/abandoned world kinda trope.
It has a pretty similar fighting and playstyle, great art and nice music.
Its more dark than hollow knight tho, its usk 16, has some gory stuff (pixelart so not THAT bad) and overall is really gothic so be aware of that!
Sex is a spectrum and it is influenced by SO many genetic, hormonal and environmental Factors

ALSO:
“The idea of two sexes is simplistic. Biologists now think there is a wider spectrum than that.”
I just thought about that one time in middle school when two girls tried to bully me by telling me that I was so flat chested my male cousin had a bigger chest than me and I got really happy and thanked them and bragged to my friends about it and in hindsight I don’t know how everyone didn’t know I was trans before I did because I don’t even think I was in the closet, I think I was just staring out an open window thinking no one going by could see me
i'm a biology student. i'd take the animals please
i want. a cicada on one arm and a crayfish on the other
Carrie is fat in the book. Learning that completely blew me.
The use of pigs blood makes so much more sense. The reason she was bullied so relentlesly, even though she does nothing to nobody, makes so much more sense. The relationship with her mother makes so much more sense.
I know they aren't going to, but I wish they would cast someone fat in this new Carrie adaptation. From the articles I've seen, they are already speculating which skinny actress it's going to be.
How many times can they tell the story the same exact way? The answer: endlessly.
I don't know what's worse the total erasure of fat people in movies or the only story we get to see ourselves in are the love yourself fatty movies.

I had an amazing Biology teacher who we all assumed was a failed scientists.
He was OBSESSED with mushrooms.
He once randomly whipped out a bunch of champignons that he bought at the supermarket next door and continued yapping about them for 30 mins straight.
Our chapter was the processing of optical signals.
